Some feature requests

1. I'd like to be able to pick transparency in my color.  I know it's possible to pick a transparency for a whole layer, but this does not export the tileset with transparency.  The workaround I've found is to merge the transparent layer onto a transparent tile underneath and put that tile into my tileset, but if you want to apply a shadow onto a variety of different tiles, the number of permutations you need to do these steps to explodes.  You mention you're working on such a feature here, but I'm not sure if this is how you planned on implementing it.  I'm hoping that I'll get to choose the transparency at the granularity of a color.

2. I think the color replacer tool should have an option to replace all colors in the tile.  I often want to do just that: I've decided that everything in this tile that is brown should be black.  It takes a lot of time to use this tool to draw over every pixel.  The fill tool would probably be a better choice, but if the pixels aren't grouped together this can also be a lot of work.  I'm thinking ctrl+click (or something) could replace all of one color to another in a single tile.

3. I think if I start drawing with the pen tool and THEN press shift, the pixels I've already drawn should be turned into a line.  This is how all drawing programs I've used usually work.  This is low priority to me because after a few days I got used to it.

4. I think the tile placer tool should have a way to take a tile off of the canvas.  I don't want it to affect the "Tiles" dialog though.  I just want to clean out some tiles I've already used.

5. It would be nice if I could double click a color on the palette and change the color

6. I wish the tiles window would wrap automatically so I never have to scroll horizontally.

7. When I merge a layer down, the layer's name should become the layer below, not the layer above.  Right now it gets the name of the layer above.  This is how paint.net does it and it makes sense to me.  You may have a concrete layer at the bottom and a cracks layer above it.  If you merge this down, it makes more sense for the bottom layer to be named "ground" than "cracks".  Even with the default names it makes sense.  If I merge Layer 2 onto Layer 1, there should be a Layer 1 left over, not a Layer 2 left over.

Thanks for the feedback!

1. This is implemented in the dev version, along with drawing with opacity and density.

2. Perhaps a good solution would be to make the "Replace current color" function respect selections since this is more general. Making a selection of a tile could be easier, for example by double clicking with the marquee tool.

3. I'm not sure about this. It seems confusing, for example what should happen if you release shift again?

4. Yes, that's a good idea.

5. Agreed.

6. You can change the width of the tileset in the Tiles menu. It's kept at a certain width so that organizations are preserved.

7. Good point.

1.  Great to hear.

3. I'm not sure, I'd do whatever paint.net does.

6. Ah I didn't think about that organization issue.  Good point.

I would appreciate more immediate controls over the opacity setting- a way to adjust it on the fly while drawing would be great, such as either a keyboard shortcut to dial this and other brush features such as size/scatter/shape easily.

Perhaps using the up & down or +/- keys for some of those attributes? Or, some kind of pop-over menu that can be hot-key triggered for these attributes? I think the idea of having a hot key combo that when held makes cursor left/right or up/down movement change the brush qualities, such as in SketchBook Pro would be particularly useful.
