Selection tool bug

After working with selection tool, and switching to pen or eraser, pen and eraser stop working. You need to go back to selection tool and click once any space, after which pen and eraser become usable again. Version 0.4.0

I get this bug since moving to another laptop, makes for a very frustrating moment trying to fix it. Running 64bit Windows 7.

I don't have this issue on my netbook which is running a 32bit Windows 7 Starter Edition, works fine on 32bit XP also.

If I recall ctrl+D deselects the selection as you're just writing inside of the selection, photoshop does this as well.
