It would be great that you could flip the selected target horizontally and vertically.

This feature has been implemented and is accessible if you've opted in for the pre-released beta. If you already have access to latest beta version, then you should be able to flip your selection via the following shortcuts: ctrl+F, ctrl+shift+F on windows and cmd+f, cmd+shift+f on OS X.
