Cut / Paste always pastes rectangular area

When I use the marquee tool to select a non-rectangular selection (i.e. composing it out of parts), I can cut this selection, but when pasting, I get the full enclosing rectangle...

For example:

I tried to cut out the bow here, and move it to a different layer:

The cutting succeeded:

But the pasting includes pixels that weren't cut:

This is not by design I think.. ?

No it is not by design, it's a known bug/behavior. Danik is aware of it and will eventually fix it, I presume ;)

Yes, this is a bug that has been fixed in the development version.

@FatalSleep Yes the bug is currently still present in 0.3.108, Danik hasn't released a new version since this was reported. As he mentioned earlier though, it has been fixed in the internal version he's working on.
