I can confirm it is not dead. Danik will be working on it again in July, I believe.
In the meantime I've been making some modifications myself and will hopefully get these into release at some point, including some QoL features such as hiding the selection box, and offsetting with arrow keys, and more significantly animation frame offsetting and multiple layer selection for tile instance offsetting, which I'm using to make this https://twitter.com/JoeCreates/status/1399335485353435136
