Mask layer or blend mode

Hey I'm making pretty complicated tiles and I could really use a mask feature, like, im assembling tiles out of many layers but if i could add a layer that erases pixels below it it would make my job so much better instead of drawing a super obvious color instead and every time i export i import the export and wand tool delete that color
