Are you using the 64-bit version? I had the same issue where clicking on the menu bar crashed the program, but the 32-bit version works fine.
EDIT: The reason i originally tried the 32-bit version was because of this topic.

Hi
I recently purchased a copy of Pyxel Edite, and can't get it working on my linux system. The installation runs smoothly, and you can perform basic tasks in the application, but as soon as you click on the File/Edit menu bar, it crashes. I have tried both Crossover and Wine, and they both have the same issue. I have tried following the Wine install thread here online as well, but to no avail. Can someone please help me with this? Otherwise I will be requesting a refund

How do I get hold of the 32bit version? I just followed the link in the email after purchasing
