Greetings. I've been doing pixel art for about two years now, and I decided to post some things I've created with Pyxel Edit in order to showcase how useful of an editor it is.
The Moth
I created this piece using the following image I created as a reference:

The process is, for the most part somewhat chaotic. I used a program called Webchemy to generate an idea, or a concept that I felt was fitting to render. I then grab a photograph that I own and I import the color palette into Pyxel Edit, and use colors that match there. The thing about using an imported color palette is that you don't need to play with colors to make them work together. You are given an assortment of gradients and variations that are close enough because the camera has created them for you already. This is not cheating by any stretch of the imagination for those of you who are held back by picking the appropriate colors.
After that I went through a few variations on the wings, but I already knew that I had the colors I wanted. It was just deciding where they should go and how I can convey that this was an insect to the viewer. I plan on extending this post repeatedly in order to showcase the methods used and logic behind my decisions in hopes to bring awareness to how convenient this program is. The import colors feature alone is enough to keep me coming back.
I only intend on updating this post with things I've created within Pyxel Edit to help demonstrate how capable the program is.
Medusa's Eye
This is one of the enemies for the game I'm working on. I'd rather not go into detail about it, but it's color scheme is probably not permanent.
