How to mask tiles for selection tool?

I'm trying to make an animation where a cloud moves across a background. So I choose the layer with the cloud on and try to move it out of frame but it shows on the previous one. Is there a way to avoid this?

You could use the Offset tool to move it each frame. The contents that leave the tile will wrap around on the other side, but you can clean that up afterwards.
