Yes, customizable shortcuts are planned. As a workaround you can edit pyxelconfig.json, located in USER\AppData\Roaming\PyxelEdit on Windows and I believe USER/Library/Preferences/PyxelEdit on OS X.

I just bought Pyxel Edit and it looks pretty damn good so far, and I haven't used the tiles feature yet.
That being said, I am used to the following setup in GraphicsGale:
Q for pencil
E for eraser
Right click for eyedropper
Would it be possible to have customizable shortcuts also? I think it's a very important feature.
