Inserting Frame in Animation Messes up other frame's time lengths

Hi Friend, I have a problem. Say I have two frames, frame 1 and frame 2, with different time lengths, and i insert a frame between them, the new frame becomes frame 2, and the previous frame 2 becomes frame 3. It takes the default settings of a new frame, and the new frame 2 takes the previous frame 2's settings. In a long animation, this is very annoying. If you could help, thanks so much.

To make it a bit more clear:

how it currently is:
100 150 170
frame 1 --- frame 2 --- frame 3

100 150 170 100
frame 1 --- frame 2 --- new frame --- frame 4

how it should be:

100 150 100 170
frame 1 --- frame 2 --- new frame --- frame 4

or alternatively.. if you copy/paste frame 2:

100 150 150 170
frame 1 --- frame 2 --- new frame --- frame 4
