Shortcuts failing after changing colour

After changing the foreground or background colour, I seem to be unable to use any keyboard shortcuts (E, B, holding Space for panning etc) until I click on the canvas. Sometimes the shortcuts will rarely work after changing the colours, but I can then still replicate the bug by zooming in or out once. While this affects holding space to pan, I've not experienced this affecting using middle mouse to pan.
