How do I make the tile transparent?

Hello! I am very new to Pyxel Edit and I have been searching the discussions here on how to make the tile transparent (as you can tell from the title), however I have been unable to find anything that makes sense to me. Some help would be appreciated; thank you very much!

By default the background is transparent if you export as png.
If you mean transparent as in, being able to place tiles on top of each other without removing previous content, then you just have to create a new layer and paste onto that one.
