Background of different resolution

i would like the ability to place a background in the workspace at a higher resolution than the working layers. That way they could have something like a 128x128 pixel image behind a 32x32 layer that they're drawing on, to then trace over.

That would be neat. That would probably make the tileset more complex though(?) for importing/exporting, though maybe not if it's a 1:1 setup... I would be fine if it's a  just a simple tile-less background/rastor underneath. Or simply a "template" layer that won't be used/processed to create final image data. The latter seems easiest to implement.

Just bought the software and I immediately missed a Feature like this. I Imagine something like just choosing a jpeg of arbitrary resolution and then having a slider for size and opacity. Would make it way easier to work after scanned pencil sketches and such.
  • I'd love this feature as well. It could be locked to work only with a 1:1 setup (to not mess with tiles) and when done with that, the actual pixel art layer can be copied to a new file and resize tiles; or the high res layer can be just deleted to unlock resizing tiles or something like that idk
